The dress I can’t stop wearing.
Been a busy week on this end, and one where I don’t think I’ve sat down at my desk until yesterday… Not that that’s something to complain about, of course.
I’ve spent most of this week filming a video with Refinery29 all week — I can’t say what it’s about specifically just yet, but here’s a hint.
Yesterday, I spent all day outdoors — but before you get any envy, know it was to run errands, get to meetings and so on. Most of our video shoot was outside, too — the poor make-up artist must have gone through an entire thing of face powder to keep my sweat in check. (She says IT Cosmetics Blurring Powder is the best, by the way.)
Regardless, it was so nice to spend the day in a dress. When Chicago has her first few 80-degree days of the season, you can feel the city coming back to life.
Today’s ensemble is one I’ve had on regular rotation — especially in all of my recent travels from Miami to Coachella and more. You know I’m down with a statement sleeve, but I’ve grown to love the backless look.
Part of this, I think, is because I don’t have to wear a bra as much any more (having lost weight over the last few years). Free-dooom!
Real talk, though: The pro here is weight loss, the con is that most of it came from my tits. Ha!
Anywho, this dress has become a bit of a gateway drug to the backless trend.
I’m trying to talk myself out of buying it in black, too, but whatevs — it’s really flattering and just plain easy to toss on.
On the personal front, I’ve been in major spring cleaning mode.
The past few days, I’ve donated nearly half of my closet. Have you ever heard that clearing your personal space actually frees you up mentally, too? I’m a big believer here — try it!
I also have a handful of new furniture pieces being delivered — including a new stand-up desk, mainly because I need a counter-height surface to practice on my DJ equipment.
… Now, off to plot on how I can recruit a few male friends to put this shit together for me. Hope your week has been a good one, too.
