Let’s talk about the about the ability to eliminate the unnecessary today.
… We could interpret that in a lot of ways, but we’ll stick to the style front today.
In a sea of over-the-top outfits and ensembles (and in a world in where mainstream media seems to mirror the same wavelength), a minimal style aesthetic can be really refreshing. Don’t you think?
Don’t get me wrong — I love bold style, but keepin’ it clean and streamlined has been top-of-mind for me as of late.
As you might have noticed, I’ve been easing my way into cooler climates with an array of pretty pastel colors this season. Not quite ready for all black err’thang just yet…
The best part, by the way, is that these key pieces won’t break the bank. (The dress is 40% off, FYI; it runs true-to-size.)
I’d actually worn a belt over this trench when I first pulled it on last week, but took it off on my way out the door after catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror… “Do less,” I’d thought.
… It worked. So much better.
Now, on the notion of simplicity, let’s talk about my bag.
It’s Cuyana, and quite fittingly, that’s their motto — fewer better. Or rather, that “fewer, better things lead to loving your closet and, ultimately, a fuller, better life.” Quality over quantity, indeed!
Cuyana means “to love” in Quechua, and that’s an accurate description of how I’d describe the pieces I’ve purchased from them over the years. The bag I’ve had the longest is their Tall Leather Tote (in stone grey), but most recently, I’ve added the Oversized Bucket Bag and Mini Saddle Bag (worn today in deep rose) to my closet.
Here’s a few more of my favorite Cuyana items (they have clothing, too), linked below:
Cuyana just opened their first-ever Midwest pop-up in Chicago at 840 W. Armitage, and I’m hosting a little mid-week, pre-holiday shopping celebration there on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
Here’s the invitev and link to RSVP (below). If you can swing by after work, come! There will be booze, mini blow-outs and make-overs from Styleisted; plus free monogramming on your purchase.
All attendees will be entered to win a free bag, too! Hope to see you there.
On a final note: Even if you are familiar with Cuyana, do you know about their Lean Closet Movement? It’s pretty cool.
Hope to see you Wednesday, fellow Chicago gals.
