Cool Sh*t to Share: Vol 36 - Among Other Things (The Blog)

Cool Sh*t to Share: Vol 36

Can’t-miss sales, fashionable finds and worthy reads worth noting this week.

Friday, guys. We made it!

This week was busy, but it’s been nice to get back in the swing of things on the productivity front. The month of May has been an interesting balance — or an attempt at that.

Oh, and before we get into it: I intended to have my Fyre Festival recap up yesterday but ran into a little hiccup that I’ve got to sort out first-and-foremost. Hopefully my story will be up on Monday. Apologies!

Anyway, back to this month’s balance: Ever feel like you’re trying to drink through a rhetorical fire hose?

I’ve been mindful about staying grounded and recharging so as to not feeling scattered despite this, but that’s always a challenge. Last night alone I taught my usual SoulCycle class, pulled/styled and steamed four different outfit options for a video shoot next week; met my DJ teacher for an hour of practice and wrote today’s blog post. I also polished off a bottle of wine, but that’s an area of multitasking that I don’t need help with. (It was almost empty though, don’t judge!)

All good things, of course… We’ll consider those our combined Peaks & Pits for today, yes? Let me know what yours were in the comments below — I want to hear how your week has been!

I hope you have a lot to look forward to this weekend — and a very happy Mother’s Day to all of you lovely ladies that qualify. (…Qualify? LOL — you know what I mean. Hugs.)

This Week’s Links…

Shopping & such

Shop: Last-minute Mother’s Day gift ideas from Nordstrom.

Save: Score an extra 20% off all clearance items at Nike today.

Hydrate: I don’t think I needed a water bottle that says “Rosé All Day” on it but that didn’t stop me.

Sunnies: I lost my favorite pair of sunglasses — these black matte aviators — at Coachella last month (lol) and ended up purchasing another. There’s really nothing like them for that good of a price.

Sale: BaubleBar is up to 30% off this weekend — including those super cute acrylic monogram necklaces. I’d also suggest the rose-colored Crispin earrings and turquoise tassel drops — both of which I’ve been wearing often with neutral-colored tops and tanks.

Accessorize: Here’s the straw hat/fedora I bought for my shoot next week (and to wear all summer, duh). It looks exactly like those $200+ designer versions, but it’s only $54. Swoon!

Lounge: I feel like an asshole geeking out over beach towels, but you’ll understand when you see these; I bought two: one with stripes and and another with a palm tree print. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t do it partially for the ‘gram.

Browse: I’ve been updating the “Shop” page of my site with recent finds, beauty favorites and summer essentials. Click here and scroll down to browse!

Notable reads

Get luckySix habits of “lucky” people — an interesting take on how luck may seem random, but can actually be created and increased.

Do less: My friend Natalie discussed the 80/20 rule and how you can apply it in your life. (It says that 80% of your results come from 20% of the work you put in.) I think this was my favorite thing on the Internet this week.

Digital: Here’s a few sneaky ways to stop advertisers from targeting you — and tricking you into spending more money (…written as I have, like, 10 different Nordstrom browsers open).

Money talk: A little love note for any fellow bloggers or freelancers who’ve ever had a hard time figuring out how to charge what they’re worth.

Wellness: I really liked this piece on the evolution of Weight Watchers — or more specifically, of its founder Jean Nidetch. (I did WW right out of college — and really liked it. I don’t anymore since I learned what I needed to inform/shift my habits, but just had to share.)
